"Nothing that's mine," she said softly. "A few friends, a job I'm utterly unsuited for, a place in my friend's house. Well... there's my cat. But she's at home too."

He smiled. "I pretty much like things I can eat, but these are pretty good. I, uh...I never really had anyone who wanted to make brownies."

"I kind of clean and bake compulsively when I'm upset," she admitted. "That or work on whatever car project I've got going. But that's back home."

"Yeah, I'm a mechanic by trade. Of course, cars aren't exactly common in the City," she said ruefully.

He shrugged. "I've seen a couple. I've been thinking of taking that Jag for a spin."

"I have part of a VW Bug I'm working on," she admitted. "Just not enough work to pay the bills."

She wasn't even touching the Jag comment, sensing he was probably someone who'd just take any caution as a challenge.

She hesitated, then carefully reached out and took his hand.

He smiled and took her hand, knowing this was going to tickle. He wrapped his fingers around her hand, and pointed a finger of his free hand at the nearest lamp.A small snap and an arch of energy raced through his hand, into Mercy's and from Mercy to the lamp. It jolted off of the table, landing with a thud on the floor.

She jumped at the electrical current and tried to tug her hand away. "Damn!"

"Oh come on," He said with a laugh. "It tickled." He got up and righted the lamp, turning it back and as if nothing had happened.
