Mercy's clearly inanimate body was laid out on Thomas' bed where it had been since he'd brought it there Monday night. He'd cleaned it up and placed it in a place she'd recognize when she woke up.

If she woke up.

The camera was focused on the body for nearly a minute before there was a sudden startling gasp for breath and Mercy sat bolt upright with a cry, scrabbling backwards on the bed and grasping at her chest where she'd been shot.

"THOMAS!"

Are you positive? How would he know? He's human right so how would he really know about Pack things?

Wow. I can't even wrap my mind around it. And I can't even begin to imagine how much more the werewolves would hate me if I was officially Adam's mate and I somehow managed to be made Pack.

Not that I want to be Pack in the first place.

Besides, if I'm Pack... I actually have to follow their rules - not just put my head down and play nice and pretend and then do what I want.

Maybe you shouldn't think about it. You're here and there's not much you can do about it. I mean if Adam was here then you'd have something to deal with but he's not.

If I was mated to Adam right now... I couldn't ever be with Thomas, but I'm not.

I only knew Richard a few days, but our other sides just...I don't know. They clicked with each other. I think that side decided for us that we would be together. I was so happy with him, I was willing to give up Mutant X and leave it all behind for a normal life. A life with someone who knew what I felt and who knew me. It was nice.
