[Kyle had went from sitting against the door to laying there, pressing his warm face to the cool floor. He was feeling sicker and sicker by the minute and while Mercy was gone he'd had the wild idea that maybe he'd hallucinated her voice in the first place. Maybe no one was coming for him. Hearing her again, he still wasn't sure if he was dreaming.]

Still here....I really hate Halloween, you know?

[Mercy worked at the lock, cursing under her breath at it until she finally heard a click under her hands.]

Man... was that it. Kyle... I think, damn... I got it open!

[Kyle muttered, only half-hearing the words.]

I can't open from this side. No doorknob.

[Which was pretty much the most hysterical thing he'd ever said. Kyle let out a snort of laughter.]

[She flung the lock to the side and yanked at the door, pulling it open. She dropped to her knees to check Kyle.]

Hey, Kyle, thank heavens. What happened? Come on, let's get you out of here!

[He gestured weakly to the furnace in the center of the room.

You don't. It's a trap.

[Kyle sat up with a labored movement, swaying a little.]

If you take the antidote the furnace locks down and starts burning. You have to burn yourself to get out. I did it once.

[She shivered, not sure if it was in horror or because she was naked.]

It happened before. I got out but I had to burn my hand to do it.

[He tried to get to his knees but quickly slipped back down again as his vision blurred.]

Mercy...I can't walk. I feel really sick.

[She looked at the furnace and then back at Kyle and steeled herself.

[Kyle's eyes widened and he grabbed on to her arm, shaking it.]

No! You can't.

I'm not going to let you die. Give me a better choice and I'll take it, but if not, I'm going to do it and if you tell me how maybe I won't get as badly hurt.

There's an anti-toxin kit at the Beach House. Jack knows where.

[She pushed the hair out of her eyes impatiently and reached down to take hold of him gently.]

I'll help you, hell I'll carry you or drag you back if I have to.

[That would be a sight, naked Mercy dragging Kyle around.]

[Kyle fiddled with his network communicator, leaving a terse message for Jack. He kept a hand on Mercy though, as if he was wary of her leaving or making a leap for the furnace.]

He'll come. He has this thing...he can get places quickly. Just let's get out of this box, okay?

[Mercy nodded. She'd been shivering so long now that she wasn't sure even shifting would warm her.]

[[Kyle was as anxious as her to get away from that small room and it's looming terror. He leaned most of his weight on Mercy and shuffled towards the door and the cool night air.]

[Using the trace signal of Kyle's network device, Jack grabbed one of the Sigs, the anti-toxin / first aid kit and his coat before using the coordinates to teleport to their location.]

Jack! Thank heavens you're here.

[There was definite gratefulness in Mercy's voice as she helped Kyle out the door, even the warmth of him against her not helping much with the cold.]

[Kyle stammered, shivering too, though not as much from the cold. He did have enough sense to smile at Jack to keep the man from panicking too much.]

[Jack liked to think he was pretty good at not panicking in general, though there were definitely times. However right now he simple set the kit down, shrugged out of the great coat and held it out to Mercy, while reaching to take Kyle]

Come on, let's get you straightened out.

[His voice was that leadership calm of his. Later, when he had Kyle bundled up safely in bed and detoxined, he was going to hug the stuffing out of the man!]
