House people? Anyone have anything they need me to do for them or get for them? I'm all antsy for some reason. Even cleaned my bedroom, so Kyle can attest to said nervous energy.

Maybe it's just all the craziness in the City lately. Everyone seems to be on edge and a little short-tempered and just everywhere I go I can smell the tension.

Wonder if things would be better out in the woods or way down the beach. Or maybe I should just shift and run it out.

Tag.

[ooc; sure. because I don't think Thomas is in his apartment. :) Feel free to have her track him to the window. He's only on the 4th floor. That's nothing for him to make that drop.]

She came in, dropped the bag near the door and started looking.

He wasn't anywhere in the apartment.

"Thomas?" She followed her nose to the window and stared down. "What the hell...?"

Once on the street, Thomas pressed himself against the side of the building. It was a nice changed of pace to trade being the hunter for the hunted. He smiled. This was going to be fun.

Mercy laughed quietly to herself. "So it's going to be like that, huh?"

Well, no rules had been set, so... She stripped off, leaving her clothes in a fairly neat pile, shifted and headed out the door and down the stairs to try and pick up his scent outside.

Knowing she was faster than him at a dead run, he was counting on one thing: coyotes don't have thumbs. He could climb. She couldn't. He when saw her round the corner in coyote form, he was off, dashing down the end of the alley and taking a right, jumping up to a fire escape with all the ease of a human stepping over a small gap in pavement.

She rounded the corner in time to see him take off and she chased, only to whine and yip at him as he climbed up the fire escape.

No fair! Still... damn, but he looked good climbing like that! She admired for a moment, then moved back to see where he'd go next to figure out how best to follow.

So, he hadn't been banking on her sounding that pathetic. He paused for a moment, then launched himself across to the next fire escape, trying to put distance between them before he dropped back to the ground. After the next, he launched out and down, landing in a roll before taking off at a run toward the forest.

And Mercy was off and running, knowing she was faster than him in a straight running race and wanting to close as much distance as possible before he tried something else.

Oh, this was just what she'd needed! A shift, a run, a good chase... It was marvelous!

Thomas knew he was done for if he couldn't make it to the trees and there were a good 30 yards away. Mercy was closing fast, and the ground was free of obstacles. This was going to be close...

She raced after him, going all out, glorying in the speed of the chase and the wind in her fur, and so happy that she could barely contain all the joy within her little coyote body.

How had he known that this was exactly what she'd needed? It had been so long since she'd been able to play like this.

He wasn't going to make it. That much was obvious. It for another plan. He saw a log laying across the path and the answer was clear. He layed on extra speed and headed right for it. Accidentally, or so it seemed, he tripped over it, tumbling across the ground, then laying still.

Mercy couldn't stop in time and went over the log, trying not to actually land on the fallen Thomas. If she overshot she could turn around and pounce on him then.

He remained unmoving, his breathing slow and regular, pretending he'd knocked himself out. Hopefully she'd fall for it.

She skidded on the grass as she made a hasty turn and dashed back towards him, slowing when she saw him not moving. Oh, please, no. Maybe he'd really hurt himself in the fall.

She sniffed, but didn't smell any blood, thank everything. She approached cautiously, nosing him gently and wondering if she should shift back or just run and get help.

She couldn't help the soft whimper she made as she checked on him.

He was up and had wrapped his arms around the little coyote in one, almost unfollowable motion. Then he proceeded to scratch behind her ears. Because it was adorable, damn it.

"Gotcha."

No fair! She'd been scared for him!

She gave a yip of displeasure, then gave in and snuggled into him, enjoying the physical contact. What? It felt good!

She buried her cold wet nose in his neck and nipped him lightly, then lowered her head to under his chin level submissively like a good coyote.

If he whimpered and made a little girly squealing noise when her nose touched his neck, he'd never admit it to anyone.

After a moment, he smiled. "Feel better?"

The happy wriggling and tail wagging should be a good sign, as well as the sigh of relief and the head resting on his shoulder.

Mercy trotted along happily at his heels, sometimes nudging him or darting ahead to urge him on.

She was glad he hadn't wanted her to shift back in the cold woods, but she would have if he'd asked her to.
