104 Howls: Home from Hospital

If anyone's looking for me, I'm going to be home for a few days. Just got Jack home from the hospital, but he needs someone to stay with him since he's confined to bed rest for a while.

Mara and Donna, if you need any help with the store let me know.

Saya, I'm sorry to need to take time off this soon, but I don't want to leave Jack alone.


[Mercy goes to turn off the device, but instead accidentally turns on the video function which shows her taking her mug of hot chocolate into Jack's room where he's sleeping at least somewhat peacefully. She settles down in the chair pulled up next to the bed, shoulders slumping in fatigue, and reaches out to take his hand.]

[Jack wakes a little while later, groggy, but, he squeezes the hand he feels in his and smiles at her.]

I see Nurse Mercy is on-call again today.

That has got to be the most boring job. Surely, you'd like to go out and do other things. Maybe we could go have dinner somewhere or something.

How about you decide what you'd like and we'll order it in and curl up here on your bed and watch a movie.

I won't offer to make you a really nice dinner because that would be just cruel.

If you insist. How does pizza sound to you?

You know, if you wanted me in bed, all you had to do was ask.

[Oh, that last remark had her blushing like crazy. Because she'd thought about him that way, more than she'd probably ever admit, but she also knew his reputation far too well, and casual just wasn't in her make-up.

Much though she might really wish it was right now.]

[Yes, hard fought lightness here, though her voice might sound a little strangled through the blushing!]

Pizza it is. Do you have a preference for a movie?

[He winks at her, however, as her movie question sinks in and something occurs to him, his mood sobers a little.]

Only if it has Julia Roberts in it; she's hot. Of course, so is Jeff Goldblum....a little boring in bed, though.

[She's still blushing, but smiles at him.]

Okay, I'll go order pizza and grab some DVD's from the living room. Soda, hot chocolate... what do you want to drink? And alcohol is right out with your pain meds!

[She can smell the emotional change and reaches out to touch him gently on the shoulder.]

[Her tone at the end is teasing, but the empathy for his feelings is real.]

[Now that is definitely teasing as the other Jack had fitted his room with a bigger than king size bed.]
