56 Howls: Venturing Out

It's nice enough today that me and my crutches are going to venture out - at least as far as the nice patch of grassy area by the trees. If anyone wants to come visit I'd be glad for the company. It's very lonely being stuck alone in your house - not that Medea isn't nice, but...

At least at the hospital there were always people around.

Dean heard Mercy's plans and as he doesn't have much else to do and he's sort of avoiding the apartment for the moment, he heads toward the beach in the Impala, parks it when he catches sight of Mercy sitting in the grass and wanders over with a grin.

"Nice day to be out."

Mercy smiled at him. She'd heard the car - no mechanic could mistake that for some other car - and smelled him, so there was no brief moment of wondering if it was him or Priestly. Being a coyote had some definite benefits.

"Dean, came to keep me company?"

Dean doesn't understand the similarities people see between him and Priestly anyway.

He sat down on the grass next to her, legs stretching out in front of him.

"Figured I might say hi."

"I'm glad," Mercy said, and if he'd been a werewolf he would have smelled the truth of that easily. "It's really lonely out here alone.

She smiled at him. "Plus, now that I've gotten myself down here on the grass I'm not entirely certain I can get myself up alone without a lot of misery."

"You're the best," she said easily. "I'd really appreciate that. Be a shame to undo all the good being outside is doing, you know?"

"No problem," Dean answered. "I don't like being cooped up much either."

"So what brings you out this way?" Mercy asked curiously. "Not that I'm objecting, mind you. I'm really glad to see you."

And wondering if she was brave enough to ask if he'd help her out with the whole shifting thing.

"Didn't have anything better to do and I heard you were planning on coming out here," Dean answered.

He'd probably help but she'd have to ask.

He seemed a little... different from the last time she'd seen him - more of a libido, definitely, and, well, she could tell he'd had a pretty good time recently.

It was nice to see him more relaxed and in a less stressful capacity.

"So... I was wondering," she said, a little hesitantly. "I still... I'm still too scared to shift and I was wondering, well..."

She stopped, even thinking about it making her need to stop and calm herself down.

Relaxed is an understatement as is 'good time'.

He just listens, glancing at her before looking back at the ocean. This is something she's got to ask herself because if she can't ask it, she's not going to have the balls to shift either.

"If... if I were to try to shift - inside, somewhere safe..." She was watching the ocean, too, not quite ready to meet his eyes till she got it all out. "Would you maybe be willing to stand by? Have my back, just in case?"

"Sure," Dean nods. "Wouldn't be a problem."

He's even got guns in the trunk of the Impala if she's really worried.

She nodded, looking over at him again. "Thanks. Maybe once I've gotten up from here. Not that I'll be in any better shape as a coyote, but if I can just not be terrified of shifting..."
