coyote_walking: (What?)

29 Howls: FYI

I'm back at the beach house.

I needed Medea.

If you're looking for me I'm either there in my room or at the garage working on the Bug.

Hang on, I swear I'll be back as fast as I can.

[Mercy shifted back, whimpering a little as her front paws hit the ground. She didn't let it stop her, though, just tore back to the house as fast as she could, shifted back and found her collar with the lock picks. It didn't take long to put it on and shift again and take off to the house.

She knew she was going to pay for this much shifting in a short time, but she couldn't leave Kyle. When she arrived back at the little house she shifted back and pulled the lockpicks off the collar and set to work on the lock.
]

Kyle? How are you doing?

Re: audio;

[Kyle had went from sitting against the door to laying there, pressing his warm face to the cool floor. He was feeling sicker and sicker by the minute and while Mercy was gone he'd had the wild idea that maybe he'd hallucinated her voice in the first place. Maybe no one was coming for him. Hearing her again, he still wasn't sure if he was dreaming.]

Still here....I really hate Halloween, you know?

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Horrible holiday.

[Mercy worked at the lock, cursing under her breath at it until she finally heard a click under her hands.]

Man... was that it. Kyle... I think, damn... I got it open!

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good.

[Kyle muttered, only half-hearing the words.]

I can't open from this side. No doorknob.

[Which was pretty much the most hysterical thing he'd ever said. Kyle let out a snort of laughter.]

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[She flung the lock to the side and yanked at the door, pulling it open. She dropped to her knees to check Kyle.]

Hey, Kyle, thank heavens. What happened? Come on, let's get you out of here!

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
The usual. Kidnapped, poisoned...the antidote's in there.

[He gestured weakly to the furnace in the center of the room.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
In the furnace?

[Mercy swallowed hard.]

How the hell are we supposed to get it out of there?

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
You don't. It's a trap.

[Kyle sat up with a labored movement, swaying a little.]

If you take the antidote the furnace locks down and starts burning. You have to burn yourself to get out. I did it once.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
You did it once? Does this happen often?

[She shivered, not sure if it was in horror or because she was naked.]

Look, let's just get you to the hospital.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
It happened before. I got out but I had to burn my hand to do it.

[He tried to get to his knees but quickly slipped back down again as his vision blurred.]

Mercy...I can't walk. I feel really sick.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Dammit.

[She looked at the furnace and then back at Kyle and steeled herself.

Fine. Tell me how to do it and how badly I'm gonna get hurt so I can be prepared.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kyle's eyes widened and he grabbed on to her arm, shaking it.]

No! You can't.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shook his arm off.]

Shut up, Kyle.

I'm not going to let you die. Give me a better choice and I'll take it, but if not, I'm going to do it and if you tell me how maybe I won't get as badly hurt.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
There's an anti-toxin kit at the Beach House. Jack knows where.

You can't get inside that thing, Mercy.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Then call him and tell him to get it ready and meet us halfway.

[She pushed the hair out of her eyes impatiently and reached down to take hold of him gently.]

I'll help you, hell I'll carry you or drag you back if I have to.

[That would be a sight, naked Mercy dragging Kyle around.]

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I know I'm not the tallest guy but...

[Gives her a weak smile.]

I think you'd have trouble dragging my ass around.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[She was starting to look more than a little desperate.]

What am I supposed to do then, Kyle?

Just leave you here again and mod Jack and the anti-toxin kit? I'm not letting you die!

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kyle fiddled with his network communicator, leaving a terse message for Jack. He kept a hand on Mercy though, as if he was wary of her leaving or making a leap for the furnace.]

He'll come. He has this thing...he can get places quickly. Just let's get out of this box, okay?

...You should turn back into a coyote, you must be freezing.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mercy nodded. She'd been shivering so long now that she wasn't sure even shifting would warm her.]

Okay. As soon as we're out I'll shift back.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kyle slowly got to his knees, holding on to Mercy for balance.]

If you pull me up, I think I can stand.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mercy was solid as a rock, despite the shivering, and helped him up carefully.]

Let's get the hell out of here.

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

[[Kyle was as anxious as her to get away from that small room and it's looming terror. He leaned most of his weight on Mercy and shuffled towards the door and the cool night air.]

audio;

[identity profile] handsomejack.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Using the trace signal of Kyle's network device, Jack grabbed one of the Sigs, the anti-toxin / first aid kit and his coat before using the coordinates to teleport to their location.]

Hello?!? Kyle??

Re: audio;

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack! Thank heavens you're here.

[There was definite gratefulness in Mercy's voice as she helped Kyle out the door, even the warmth of him against her not helping much with the cold.]

Re: audio;

[identity profile] justashow.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sh-should have a-asked you to bring Mercy a jacket too.

[Kyle stammered, shivering too, though not as much from the cold. He did have enough sense to smile at Jack to keep the man from panicking too much.]
