So, I'm Mercedes Thompson and I need a job. Back home I'm a mechanic - VW's mostly, but I worked on all the German cars. Yes, yes, go ahead, heaven knows I've never heard the 'Mercedes, the Volkswagen mechanic' jokes before.

I know there aren't many cars here unfortunately, but hey, I'm good with my hands and someone pointed out I could probably fix heating and cooling systems or do building maintenance type stuff.

Other than that, I'm very organized (if you ignore my room at home), I have a purple belt in an obscure martial arts form, and, well, a history degree - specializing mostly in European history. Don't ask about the last, I spent enough time arguing with my mother about why I'm not using that degree.

I'm very responsible and have a tendency to do more than I strictly need to do, which I'm told employers tend to like.

Anyway, there's my job plea.

For the rest...

Everyone at the house, thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Kyle, thanks for letting me get some of my nervous energy out by working at Lux the other night.

Robin, thanks for the muffin and the spar.

I'd still rather be home, but everyone's made it a lot easier to be here.

Why German cars? I mean American or Japaneese are the most popular brands.

Because I like them best?

Nothing like a really great VW.

I could argue with you about how Chevrolets are clearly superior, but I've learned long time ago that you don't argue with tastes.

Whatever makes you happy. One of my best friends drives a Jag.

Besides, Chevrolet doesn't make the Porsche 911 wide-body, which is my dream car.

I worked on a Jag the other day. Sweet ride, true. And even though I admit I understand why 911 is your dream car... Back home, I drive a Chevy Impala 64. My first true love, I don't think I'll ever waver.

The 64 Impala is pretty sweet, I give you that.

There's no denying it. Though unfortunately due to space issues, I had to switch to motorcycles while in the City.

Not really a motorcycle girl, I have to admit.

Motorcycles aren't the same, true, but I'd rather have a motorcycle I can drive than a car that would have to be stored, like my friend's Jag.

Yeah, what's the fun in that?

Though back home I used to restore classic cars and sell them to collectors, most of whom probably never actually drove them.

But, as I said, each to their own.

That's the beauty of people who consider cars just a decoration... They spend too much money on cars they will never appreciate.

I"m Anthony, by the way.

You introduced yourself as Mercy.

Most people call me Mercy. Both are fine, though.

Just don't go for the three names thing or I'll think I'm in trouble.

I... have no idea what you're talking about.

Did I? Well, I go by either.

And you seem to think everything is cute.

I never use the three names thing. It's too powerful of a weapon, thank you very much.

Then we should get along just fine.
