Keys didn't really matter to Brennan Mulwray. He zapped the lock easily enough, it making a crisp, electric sizzle before he turned the knob and headed inside.
The brownies sounded divine, but Brennan made his way to the living room first, pulling off his coat and tossing it down on the back of a chair before taking a seat in it. He looked like her parents just died. He knew the feeling.
His expression was sympathetic. "I know we just met and all but you want to talk about it?"
Mercy shrugged, trying to look uncaring and failing miserably. "Nothing to tell. He cares too much about me to be with me. So he dumped me and doesn't ever want to see me again."
"I should have known better," Mercy said quietly. "I let myself get involved, let myself start to fall for him. I shouldn't have. It just felt so -"
She shook her head. "Doesn't matter. I just belong on my own, nothing beyond a friendship or two, nothing close like that. Made that decision a long time ago and I should have stuck to it."
He sighed, compassionate, empathetic even. "Yeah, I feel ya. I know what it's like to give a lot of yourself to someone, only to realize they were able to just..." he trailed off for a second. "Yeah, I get it."
"Nothing that's mine," she said softly. "A few friends, a job I'm utterly unsuited for, a place in my friend's house. Well... there's my cat. But she's at home too."
After Midnight
No, it's fine. I'll pull out some extra blankets for you.
I'll be there soon.
[ooc; Action?]
Re: After Midnight
Okay, I'll see you soon.
[ooc: Action's good!]
After Midnight
About 10 minutes.
[ooc; I'll start it when it's his turn next :)]
Re: After Midnight
Don't hurry on my account. I'm fine.
[ooc: Okay.]

"Mercy?" Damn, it smelled good in there.
Re: Action;
The smell of ozone from whatever he'd just done made her nose sting and she couldn't help but rub at it.
At least she hadn't given in to tears yet.

Re: Action;
It did. It did so much, but if she said more she'd break down and she was working very hard not to do that.
"Anyway. Help yourself to the brownies."
Action;
"Just remember, the longer you keep it in, the more it's going to make everything around it rot."

She wasn't even touching the Jag comment, sensing he was probably someone who'd just take any caution as a challenge.
