Having a car to work on is one of the best things ever. If anyone's looking for me, that's what I'll be doing.

This last curse wasn't bad. Just... weird. I was doing some weird R&D work and putting together some prototype of... something.

Don't even know who the people were, but I sure felt like I did then.

Anyone up for doing something after work?

"Hey," Mercy laughed, jostling him a little. "I was a history major. I like to make fun of the inaccuracies. And who's Henry?"

He laughed and shoved her back, keeping his strengh in check. "Careful. Someone might think you're flirting."

"As for Henry Fitzroy," he said, ticking points off on his fingers. "Henry is the bastard son on Henry VIII, a vampire, and a romance novelist."

"Yeah? Better be careful yourself!" she said lightly.

"Wow. Seriously? He's a writer from your world?"

He kept laughing. This chick was fun, he had to admit that. "Henry? No. Met him here."

Mercy looked up at him. "What are the odds?" she said with a smile. "I'll have to see if the Library has some of his books. Not like I've got a lot filling my time right now."

He smiled. "I hear they're pretty decent, for bodice rippers."

"Ah, but are they historically accurate?" Mercy said with a grin. "Half the fun is tossing them across the room when they annoy."

He laughed again. "I think I like your idea of a pastime."

"It can be remarkably therapeutic," Mercy admitted. "But I can't do it with the Library's books in case they get damaged."

"Usually I cook or clean when I'm stressed, but here, those are completely in Ianto's domain, so I don't have much I can do."

"Well, I'm not the best at entertaining, but I can try. Do you like bad horror movies?" He smiled slightly, his look nothing but inquiring.

"If there are good looking guys in them," she said teasingly. "But yeah, I do. Some I admit just to heckle, but, yeah."

He stopped walking. "Maybe," he said, with a bigger smile, "we could find some cheesy horror movies and some popcorn instead, then."

She stopped and turned to look at him. "Is there a movie theatre in the City?"

He looked smug. "There just so happens to be, yes."

"Then yes, I'd like that," Mercy said with a smile. "Lead the way."

Thomas turned in the new direction. "As the lady commands."

"I'm not so good at commanding," she admitted, turning with him. "But for a movie theatre... I'm willing to try."

"Yeah, well," he said, leading the way. "Your wish is my command, and all that."

"Ooooh! Power!" she said nudging him teasingly again.

"All women have it," he said, laughing. "It's when they realize their power that they become dangerous."

Mercy laughed. "I'm a coyote in with werewolves. Even as a woman I don't have any power."

"Really?" he said, looking confused. "And here I thought you were a girl going to the movies with a guy."

"You are such a brat," Mercy said with a smile. "Not like you don't know exactly what I mean."

He chuckled slyly. "Who cares what power you did or didn't hold back home?"

"I'm not still a - how did you put it? - a shape-shifting coyote girl? I could always prove it to you." She smiled up at him easily.
