Having a car to work on is one of the best things ever. If anyone's looking for me, that's what I'll be doing.

This last curse wasn't bad. Just... weird. I was doing some weird R&D work and putting together some prototype of... something.

Don't even know who the people were, but I sure felt like I did then.

Anyone up for doing something after work?

He looked smug. "There just so happens to be, yes."

"Then yes, I'd like that," Mercy said with a smile. "Lead the way."

Thomas turned in the new direction. "As the lady commands."

"I'm not so good at commanding," she admitted, turning with him. "But for a movie theatre... I'm willing to try."

"Yeah, well," he said, leading the way. "Your wish is my command, and all that."

"Ooooh! Power!" she said nudging him teasingly again.

"All women have it," he said, laughing. "It's when they realize their power that they become dangerous."

Mercy laughed. "I'm a coyote in with werewolves. Even as a woman I don't have any power."

"Really?" he said, looking confused. "And here I thought you were a girl going to the movies with a guy."

"You are such a brat," Mercy said with a smile. "Not like you don't know exactly what I mean."

He chuckled slyly. "Who cares what power you did or didn't hold back home?"

"I'm not still a - how did you put it? - a shape-shifting coyote girl? I could always prove it to you." She smiled up at him easily.

"I think I prefer my date have just the two legs, for now." He smiled to cover the shock of his words. Date? Really, Thomas? That...that's just stupid.

Date? Mercy was a little shocked herself. Until the dinner with Adam just before she arrived it had been 10 years since her last date. He'd probably just misspoken in any case.

She smiled at him. "Good to know. I'm not really interested in finding a secluded place to change anyway."

He chuckled. "You're preserve modesty on my account?"

She shrugged. "I don't get naked in front of people who might misinterpret my easiness in that area with easiness in other areas."

"I come from a family of sex vampires," he said, matter-of-factly. "I'm used to some ludeness. Besides, I can't tell you're not easy. Smell it on you."

"Both with the noses, huh?" she said lightly. "Yeah, well, my policy still stands for the moment, but that's good to know."

"Well," he said, his eyes moving over her. "I will say, with hints like your cloths give, I'm looking forward to later."

"Later?" she said coolly, taking a step away.

Thomas heaved a sigh and let his head drop to his chest. Great. "Mercy, that's not what I meant."

"Okay," Mercy said acceptingly with a bit of a smile. "Joking around? Or did you mean some other thing entirely."

She knew from his smell that he was being truthful.

"Play on words," he said, shoving his hands in his pockets. "You said 'for now' so I said 'later.'"

Mercy nodded. "Okay. Sorry. I... get a little uncomfortable about that sometimes. So... movies?"

He nodded and walked across the street the cinema. "Movies."
